¿Es un chasis tubular de imsa GTO carrozado como un S4 como dicen algunos, o es un chasis de S4 reforzado?

Pienso que el S4 GTO era un S4 modificado, si, pero un S4 al fin y al cabo

Buen trabajo de observación; yo también creí que eran el mismo coche con estética actualizada, es lo mas lógico pensar asi.

Aunque buscando algo de info es lo que tu dices; trasplantaron la mecánica del 90 IMSA a un nuevo chasis realizado por el reconocido especialista Matter basado en el S4 C4.

In 1992, Audi Germany agreed and sent one original Audi 90 IMSA GTO (chassis number “GTO5”) to Voldi, together with one new Audi Sport, Matter prepared works “C4 S4” bodyshell. The original Audi 90 IMSA GTO was stripped of all its components and those parts were rebuilt into this new “C4 S4” bodyshell, including the full IMSA GTO engine and running gear. This race car was now named the Audi IMSA S4 GTO and this is chassis number 001, the first built of only two cars worldwide.
